It is still hot, but summer is quickly coming to an end as back-to-school activities and events are underway. Teachers are preparing classrooms; parents and grandparents are purchasing school supplies, clothing, and enrolling children; churches are having special parties or giveaways; and, families are having last-minute vacations. College students are packing and saying goodbye to family members, and so much more.
The end of rest and relaxation combined with busy schedules and depletion of funds bombards us with stress. Routine is around the corner, but surviving taming our little lions into playful kittens brings quite the challenges. These stressors, along with a lack of time become unmanageable.
I’m not going to give a bunch of stress-relief tips today, although you might prefer them. I’m only going to make one suggestion. When scurrying around dealing with overwhelming schedules, unruly children, little sleep, and no money to pamper yourself, REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE PROBLEMS and REMEMBER WHAT IS IMPORTANT.
Here’s some reminders.
Stop to treasure the moment because one minute can change a lot of things.
Don’t let stress beat you.
- A building can fall.
- A fatal heart attack can kill.
- A child can disappear.
- A car collision can maim and destroy.
- A diagnosis of cancer can be given.
- An employee can get fired or lose a job.
- A house can catch fire.
- An intruder can break in.
- A choice can lead to a pregnancy or an addiction.
- A person can transfer from earth to heaven or hell.
or
- A smile can warm a heart.
- A hug can say you’re loved.
- A monetary gift can exchange hands.
- Flowers can be ordered to show love.
- An invitation to dinner can be offered.
- A bottle of water can quench a thirsty soul.
- Groceries can be carried for someone unable to themselves.
- A compliment shared can brighten someone’s day.
- A spontaneous choice can make a memory.
- A prayer can be prayed to change one’s eternal destination.

WOW! What a blessing! That’s what I have to say about the Blessing of the Back Pack Give-a-way!!!
I was so honored to be a part of such an event! This not only was a blessing to the children but the parents as well! Many people participated by volunteering in this event thus, acting as the hand and feet of the Jesus to the community of Galena! Much appreciation and respect goes to the few people who orchestrated this great event from behind the scenes who were selfless in their endeavors.

Thanks for the encouragement today! Will moved to college Friday, and the other two began school Monday. Taking time to breathe, be a blessing to those around me and myself today.
