The pastor enthusiastically shouted, “God is good,” and the congregation responded in unison, “All the time.”
All the time God is good, but we often lose heart. When life is at its darkest, God shines the brightest. How many of you can relate?
Feels a bit like the days of Noah to me. Thankfully, hope can carry us through anything and everything. It seems to be the power source . . . kind of like breathing.
Hope
My husband’s favorite verse in the Bible is Ecclesiastes 9:4 where it tells us it is better to be a living dog than a dead lion. Strange favorite verse, I know, but cool once you think about the hope in these words. As long as we have breath, we have hope. If we’re alive, hope remains.
- hope for a future
- hope for salvation of loved ones
- hope for churches to grow in number and be on fire for God
- hope for a healing
- hope for a new spouse after divorce
- hope for a job
- hope to grow closer to Christ
- hope for a new home
- hope for a safer neighborhood
- hope for new friends
- hope to be free of addictions
- hope to get out of debt
Thankfully, hope isn’t based upon our emotions. Even when battered and broken, we can hang on because we have breath and are alive.
There used to be a song a dear friend sang as specials. It was called, “You Can’t Steal my Joy.” I like to think of hope the same way. Hope comes from God so your family, friends, co-workers, or the devil himself can’t steal your hope.
I’ve seen hope become reality in most of the categories listed above. I’d like for you to pause for a moment and look the bulleted list over again. Can you recall a time when you were hoping for the same thing and God answered you? Remembering is one way for your hope to rise and give you strength. Writing it down allows hope to stay alive longer.
Hold On
At times, hope might feel like it is slipping away, but it is not. You can always hold on to hope as long as you are alive. Isn’t that good news? It isn’t based upon our moods. It isn’t based upon income, and it isn’t based upon how good we are.
All of us are living in an unknown world. Yes, some events of our world existed in the past, but what we are living in is a unique set of problems we desire to end soon. With hope, we can learn to manage several parts of our unmanageable world though. Keep your chin held high.
When fear strikes from so much negativity, loss, and uncertainty, be sure to press in, to the hope God gives and not give up. God not only gives you hope, but He showers you with His love and mercy. He calls you to serve Him during the messes and trials in this world, and grows your faith in the process. Hope carries us through everything!
Need more hope? Here’s some verses to read on those hard days. Read over and over – memorize. Feed on them as part of your daily diet.
Share some hope with a friend today! Praying for you as times get tougher by the day. God’s strength and favor be with you.
