Reflection is in the air as the end of 2016 draws to a close. Glancing at my posts over the past year, I chose a sampling of stories I believe to be your favorites. Since I haven’t learned how to read the stats, though, I’m unable to confirm these 100%. Hope you don’t mind.
Thank you so much for joining me this past 20 months. There’s not one problem or situation that can’t be resolved if we merely change focus for a few minutes. My prayer is after reading my posts, you come away encouraged and find yourself looking at things a little differently than before.
Well, dig in. Read those you missed, or all of them.
1. What’s it Like to Have a Blind or Visually-Impaired Mom? (link)
Around Mother’s Day, an idea came to me. Believing it would be more entertaining than insightful, I asked each of my 3 grown children to share whatever came to their mind about my mothering skills that might be hampered or different as a result of my poor vision. However, what impressed those commenting, was the candidness of my children.
The answers might surprise you.
2. Unexpected Losses link
After being diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, I knew blindness was headed my way. With it, I expected to eventually surrender my driver’s license, but was caught off-guard at the little things I lost. This post lists many of those discoveries., although I forgot to include not being able to give my young children medicine.
3. Unveiling 5 Hidden Losses That Will Rock Your World link
One of my attributes of being an overcomer has been my ability to observe. Artists see patterns visually, but I see behavior patterns and where they will lead. People tend to be trendy not knowing where that trend will take them. Thus, the reason for my writing about changes in our society. We need to bring these 5 losses back into our society.
4. The Importance of Men in the Home link
Observing a wide variety of those we serve in our ministry, I realized a correlation between many societal problems and the breakdown of the family unit. Upon reflecting, it appeared to me, men were the pivoting factor. I started digging and found many statistics supporting my theory, which are shared in this post. May you realize the importance of men in the home, their influence, and our need to empower them.
5. How One Saying Changed my Life link
Nothing replaces scripture verses, but some sayings come close. One such saying impacted me right after being diagnosed with my eye disease. It still carries the same power in my life and has helped me in ministry too many times to count.
Before you answer my question in the comments below, I want to thank you for sharing your time and thoughts with me here at changing focus. You all are a blessing to me. Feel free to pass your favorites along to friends and family. Don’t forget to come back and join me in 2017.
QUESTION. Which story here or on the blog was your favorite, and why? Please tell us in the comments below. Let’s see if I can get 20 comments like the bigger blogs do. LOL.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
